I'll never forget that morning sitting in the Laidlaw office in South Windsor watching the Today show as that all unfolded. And of course watching what is going on right now on the Gulf Coast. There's no comparision really but having at least gone thru Hurricane Bob in '91 while living on the RI shore and Gloria while living in Stratford, CT on the beach I have a good idea what destruction and alteration of the natural landscape can occur. So while sitting here with electricity, water, a solid roof over my head I realize that i'm fortunate and lucky. Did you send a donation to the Red Cross or Salvation Army?
Now i just hope that Ophelia stays away from Rhode Island and the closing on the house scheduled for the 23rd goes thru and there's no worries about living on the ocean again.
Well it's a nice day here. midafternoon and "only"97 degrees outside. Humidity is 11%. We moved in here on June 13th. That was about the last day before temperatures went over 100. And today is the first day since then that it's been less then 100. Well i believe there were maybe 2 or 3 days in a row that it was under but basically 3 solid months here of above 100 degree days. So i guess when i go outside in the morning now and 80 feels cool I can say I'm getting acclimated to this weather. Here's a pic of the first day we were in Phoenix last summer. it was 113. Silly us we went back to RI and decided we liked it here.
