Don't move yourself. Hire professionals.

it was raining and miserable. Wind blowing over 40 MPH. My sister took this during a lull in the weather. We were just throwing stuff in there at the end.

Dogs on the move. Some pics of us moving.

are we there yet????

one thing we havn't worn here yet.

This was one of the last nites at the Ocean Mist. I'll have to remember to bring a sweatshirt with me when I go back to Rhode Island.

Dan told me to watch my spelling. Sorry about the errors on the last posts. So here it is Sunday 9/11. I'll never forget that morning sitting in the Laidlaw office in South Windsor watching the Today show as that all unfolded. And of course watching what is going on right now on the Gulf Coast. There's no comparision really but having at least gone thru Hurricane Bob in '91 while living on the RI shore and Gloria while living in Stratford, CT on the beach I have a good idea what destruction and alteration of the natural landscape can occur. So while sitting here with electricity, water, a solid roof over my head I realize that i'm fortunate and lucky. Did you send a donation to the Red Cross or Salvation Army?
Now i just hope that Ophelia stays away from Rhode Island and the closing on the house scheduled for the 23rd goes thru and there's no worries about living on the ocean again.
Well it's a nice day here. midafternoon and "only"97 degrees outside. Humidity is 11%. We moved in here on June 13th. That was about the last day before temperatures went over 100. And today is the first day since then that it's been less then 100. Well i believe there were maybe 2 or 3 days in a row that it was under but basically 3 solid months here of above 100 degree days. So i guess when i go outside in the morning now and 80 feels cool I can say I'm getting acclimated to this weather. Here's a pic of the first day we were in Phoenix last summer. it was 113. Silly us we went back to RI and decided we liked it here.

A view from Sedona, Arizona.

Gettting back in the groove

There's been a lot of things to get used to here. The list could go on for every. The heat is number one. it's been over 100 since the day after we unpacked the truck except a few days one week it was just below 100. And a lot over 110 too. yesterday it was 106. But it should be back in the 90's in a couple of weeks. It's fun feeling "cool" when it's 98. All of you that worked with me must be laughing like hell. You'd all like the fleet of buses i have here. All with AC. More on the in a minute. Getting used to being back to work was rough the first week. After now working for 3 months i was getting used to that. But not having a pay check really sucked. Dan is away 3 or 4 days a week flying then home for 3 or 4. I got my Southwest pass and can't wait to be able to start useing that. Can fly to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco for the day or weekend easily from here. I really need a beach day. So i don't get to see him that much. Will be nice when he's able to get based in Phoenix and not in Oakland, CA.
So I've been back to work for over a week now. Yeah i know... back in the bus business. Some of you want to slap me but it's all been good so far. It's a busy location. Almost 70 84 passenger buses on routes. And 32 Sp Ed routes with buses up to 54 Passenger wheel chair busses on routes. As i said in another post it's a growing district. When we go back next week there's two new routes starting. By the end of this school year there might be as many as 12 new routes from the start of school. In the week i've been there 3 new buses have been delivered and 5 other buses transfered here. I've got 114 buses in my fleet as of friday.
We actually have just about enough drivers too. I'll get some pics from work posted soon. What's really cool is the bus yard is in an old Grapefruit orchard. So there's gragefruit trees all around the propety. 100's of them still. Yeah i know it's not new england every day.

we definately need some bigger plants. We have our landscaping. Sure don't need a lawnmower here.

Happy Labor Day weekend. Sharing one of my favorite views of downtown Phoenix. There's a great little restaraunt here called T-Bones. It's small and on the hillside of South Mountain about 10 minutes from our house. It's great to go up there before sunset and watch the clouds change color and the lights come on in the valley as it falls into twilight and darkness. And this is the view of Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun you from your table. It's real causual. We have kind of made it our replacement for the Ocean Mist.
